The WVU Writing Project is proud to be affiliated with the Benedum Project and to have so many of our Fellows in PDS schools in five counties!   Sally Manly of Marion County, Ellen Oderman of Monongalia County,  and Dr. Laura Brady of the English Department, and Judy Abbot of Human Resources and Education are the current co-directors of the WVUWP.

Since its inception in 1987, the WVUWP has trained over 250 teachers whose students number in the thousands!  Opportunities such as Poetry Alive! programs for teachers and students, workshops with Harry Noden, Toby Fulwiler, Tom Romano, celebrations for Young Writers' winners, and public readings by Applachian writers are made available to Fellows.

The Benedum Office at WVU has applications and brochures for the Summer Institute which will be held at Mountainview Elementary School in June and July.  Suggestions for additional programs are welcome.   WVUWP will schedule meetings with interested teachers to discuss a variety of offerings.  One suggestion is for a study group in which participants read a book about teacher research or pedagogy or other subjects of interest and discuss it over dinner.  The WVUWP has funds for many sorts of teacher activities.

Please email Laura.Brady@mail.wvu.edu; mail P.O. Box 6296, Morgantown, WV 26506-6296 with suggestions.  The WVUWP looks forward to a continuing partnership with the Benedum Project.
