                      WOMEN'S STUDIES APPROVED COURSES

Women's Studies courses are approved as either Primary or Component courses.

Primary: Overall course content focuses on women's issues and/or gender issues, and the course automatically counts as part of the women’s studies curriculum (undergraduate major, minor, or area of emphasis; graduate certificate or MALS degree). All WMST courses are Primary. Other Primary courses are indicated on the list below with a (P). Any instructor for a Primary course is acceptable.

Component: A portion of the course content focuses on women and/or gender. Students must focus their individual work (e.g. papers/projects, etc.) on women and/or gender topics and petition the Center for Women's Studies to use a component course for their women’s studies curriculum. These courses are indicated on the list with a (C). Students must choose sections taught by Approved Instructors for component courses. Questions about the applicability of a course to a particular program of study should be directed to the Center. For more information contact Barbara Howe, Director, at 293-2339 X1155 or barbara.howe@mail.wvu.edu.
