Club Update The club now has a new advisor, Dr. James Lewis, and the department is hoping to update the club so that more physics students may enjoy it. New ideas are welcome from students for the creation of a more interactive club.
This means that the club will have more of a social setting for students during physics club activities.
First News Club meetings are every-other Thursday in the Undergrad Physics Lounge, Rm 331 at 5pm. Food is provided, and the meetings last for about forty-five minutes. The First MEETING will be the second Thursday after school starts, September 3rd, 2009. This meeting should be attended by all who have ideas for the club and want to be involved; however, if not able to attend, contact an Officer to discuss any ideas or plans of involvement. It is not required to attend, just recommended; since some have classes or other involvements at this time.
Feel free to bring anything- food, ideas, humor to the first meeting. Any new members are welcome.
Undergraduate Lounge
The department supports the Undergraduate room and any improvements or needs/ideas for the lounge may be discussed at the meetings. The lounge is for the students, so input is appreciated.
Photos We Need some! The Dean has suggested taking photos of all the undergrads and placing them on a bulletin board in the lounge. This way, new students may meet to learn about the other physics majors in the department.
Tutoring Every year we do tutoring for Physics 101 and 102, once a week for 3 hours. Students need to take part in helping others at the tutoring center. This can help students learn more about physics, so that when tutoring physics comes first hand. This is very helpful in studying for the GRE test, since everyone tends to forget the basics. The tutoring schedule will be discussed at the first meeting.
Shirts A new design for T-shirts has been created. Shirt will be available for purchase soon. These shirts may also be used for the basketball team, or any other physics activities.
Have a Great Summer, and see you soon! Submit any questions or comments to Brooke at badams11@mix.wvu.edu.
