Before returning home, some of us drive out from the port to see the coast.  The rocks here are called "Le Puits d'Enfer" or "Hell's Well".  When waters are rough, the waves crash very heavily against this part of the shore.  The site is also famous in France for a murder that occurred in Les Sables several years ago.  A woman who had killed her husband tried to destroy the evidence by throwing the trunk containing his body into the waves at the bottom of these rocks.
