The links included here are about women, women in history, women in the arts, working women and so forth. We placed a particular emphasis on providing information about women, girls and gender responsive instruction to our state educators. While keeping a focus on resources available to West Virginia citizens, we included links to many sites throughout the world. If you have any suggestions, comments or questions, please feel free to contact the Center at wmst@mail.as.wvu.edu.

A Celebration of Women Writers In recognition of the rich history of women writers, we are organizing a special exhibit: "A Celebration of Women Writers".

Ladyslipper Music A non-profit organization whose primary purpose is to heighten public awareness of the achievements of women artists and musicians, and to expand the scope and availability of recordings by women.

The International Alliance for Women in Music. The IAWM Web Site, a resource on women composers and women in music topics, located at Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas.

The Black Information Network is a public resource of information containing data gathered from various entities which have concerns rooted within the Black community.

Black History Month

Bisexual, Gay & Lesbian Mountaineers (BiGLM) is a recognized West Virginia University student organization. We are dedicated to serving the needs of bisexual, gay and lesbian students, faculty, and staff as well as members of the greater Morgantown community.

Educational Resources

American Association of University Women

Gender - Fair Teaching is Good Teaching, a brochure resulting from a joint project of the Center and the WVU Council for Women's Concerns, promotes a classroom climate that fosters optimal learning.

Regents' Degree Program at WVU. The Regents' program is designed for older, non-traditional returning students and awards college credits for life and work experiences. If you experience problems with any of the links, please let us know by email and we will update.

The West Virginia K-12 RuralNet Project anticipates reaching more than 1200 teachers throughout West Virginia over the current project lifetime. The primary work of the project is to encourage and assist teachers to use the Internet in a variety of ways that will enhance science and math instruction.

Leading the Way Through widely respected research, the AAUW Educational Foundation and the Association have drawn national attention to the problems girls face in school.

American Studies Web

Rural and Urban Images: Voices of Girls in Science, Mathematics, and Technology Voices is based in McDowell and Kanawha Counties in WV, and is funded by the National Science Foundation.

The Appalachia Educational Laboratory (AEL) is a nonprofit, regionally oriented educational research and development institution. The work of the Laboratory is determined by its 28-member Board of Directors, made up of educators and others concerned about education in the four states served: Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia

New Jersey Project The New Jersey Project is the only statewide, state-funded curriculum transformation project in the nation. The Project encourages and supports curriculum and faculty development around issues of gender, race/ethnicity, class, culture and sexuality at New Jersey's four-year and two-year public and private colleges and universities.

For the past 25 years Dr. Patricia B. Campbell of Campbell-Kibler Associates has been doing research and evaluation to increase gender and race equity in math, science and technology education. Many of the results of her work can be found in a "user friendly" set of brochures on Math and Science in the Coed Classroom

In Gear Materials to Promote Excellence and Equity in Mathematics, Science, and Engineering. This web site is being developed as part of a multi-university project titled Integrating Gender Equity and Reform

West Virginia Libraries Online

Association for Women in Science West Virginia Chapter "Promoting equal opportunities in science and math for the women and girls of West Virginia."

The National Center for Curriculum Transformation Resources on Women. Resources for creating a more inclusive curriculum in higher and secondary education With the assistance of a National Committee of Curriculum Consultants and a group of Consulting Scholars in specific disciplines, the National Center produces directories, manuals, and essays useful in curriculum transformation.

Diversity Web American Association of Colleges and Universities. Contains the resources developed by the American Commitments project AAC&U. Focuses on the entire campus development but includes curriculum transformation as a major category. Syllabi and other resources are available on the various links provided here, including the Diversity Connections materials and information.

The major purpose of the General RESA component of Region II is to administer and coordinate the activities of all regional program areas. This includes the Title VI Project, Planning Services, Special Education Services, Adult Education Services, Audiological Services, Computer Information Systems (WVEIS), Computer Repair Services, and General RESA. Region II includes six southwestern counties: Cabell, Lincoln, Logan, Mason, Mingo, and Wayne.
