Vendée in the days of Fairies and Giants

If you know of the Three Musketeers, you may know of King Louis XIII and his minister, Cardinal Richelieu.  Many would say the Richelieu is the man most responsible for France's current geographic and cultural identity.  National unity is in fact a recent phenomenon in a land that lives modernity and pre-history in every breath.  Richelieu was a giant in search of a nation.  His first step was taken here in Luçon, Vendée.
