When Madame Grandpierre and I see all the students off to their families our
attention turns to our lost one, Maggie. I check with the very helpful
people of the SNCF (the train company), and they help me calculate the most
likely time of arrival for a person coming from Paris. They say that
with good advice from the agents in Paris, Maggie may well be on the train
arriving at 7:16 pm. I run home, unload my bags and return to the
station just in time for the 7:16 from Nantes. Sure enough, Maggie is
there, safe and sound. Together she and I scurry over to the Mariotti's
home a short walk away. Maggie is welcomed with open arms, and I am
delighted that everything has worked out. Now I'm ready for dinner, and
am lucky that Madame Grandpierre has invited me for dinner tonight. I'll
really enjoy a good meal and an evening of conversation before settling in for
our first weekend in Vendée.
