Writing Across Space & Time

The West Virginia University English Department, with the support of the Office of Extended Learning, offers a selection of online courses to introduce part-time students, who may be constrained by time or geographic distance, to writing at the University level. Each course is designed to help prepare students to meet some of the challenges of a degree program at WVU by fostering critical inquiry and developing communications strategies.

The English Department now offers qualified part-time learners the opportunity to earn an undergraduate minor, if the student is not an English major, or a concentration, if the student is an English major, in Professional Writing and Editing 100% on-line. Non-degree seeking students will earn a Professional Writing and Editing certificate upon completion of the sequence of PWE classes. For more information, click here.

Course Offerings Include:

English 101, Composition & Rhetoric

English 102, Argumentation and Research Writing

English 201, Advanced Composition & Rhetoric

English 302, Professional Editing

English 304, Business/Professional Writing

English 305, Scientific and Technical Writing
