Susan E. Kelley

Susan Kelley is a 1974 graduate of West Virginia University, with a bachelor's degree in History. As a part of her studies, she enjoyed some of the early Women's Literature courses taught at WVU by Dr. Judith Stitzel in 1973-74. She also holds a Master's in Management from the W. Va. College of Graduate Studies.

A native of Charleston, West Virginia, she relocated to Orlando, Florida in 1985 to take a position at Valencia Community College, where she has served as Vice President for Institutional Advancement since 1994. With an enrollment of over 52,000 students, Valencia awards more associate degrees than any other community college in the nation.

Susan also serves as a private consultant in resource development, grant writing, and grant management, assisting educational institutions across the nation. Prior to moving to Orlando, Susan served as Associate Director of the Humanities Foundation of West Virginia from 1977-85. She was a staff member of W. Va. Citizen Action Group and co-director of the Charleston Women's Center from 1975-77.

Susan is a member of the Irvin Stewart Society, having provided for the WVU Center for Women's Studies and the WVU History Department in her estate plans. She encourages others who care about the future of WVU and the Center for Women's Studies to join her by providing for the University as they make their own estate plans.

Susan is a member of the American Association of Women in Community Colleges and the Society for College and University Planning, and she is a national Board member of the Council for Resource Development. She was the founding Board Chair for the Devon Charter School in Central Florida, and currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Foundation for Orange County Public Schools.
