Dr Huang joined
ESRI-USC in 2002 as a research scientist.
Currently He is the principal developer for
C-Graz Professional sponsored by NRCS-USDA.
His current interests are focused on:
- Biogeochemistry
and ecology of wetland
- GIS
and Numerical modeling
- Water
quality and watershed modeling
- Software
development for decision support system
He earned his PhD in
Biology from University of South Carolina
and the title of his dissertation is
“Phosphorus Biogeochemistry in the
Secondary Succession of Former Rice
Impoundments on the Upper Cooper River,
South Carolina”. He found that in the
early successional stage primary production
of freshwater marsh is limited by
hydrological factors such as water depth and
frequency, while in the late successional
stage it is first limited by nitrogen
followed by phosphorus. He also holds a M.E.
degree in Computer Engineering from
University of South Carolina.
Before coming to USC to pursue his PhD degree, he worked as a junior
research scientist at Institute of Soil
Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences,
Nanjing, China. He has 5 years experience in
Soil Science. As a soil scientist, he
investigated the impacts of cropping systems
on the soil fertility and quality.
