NARRATIVE
            This is a clear demonstration of mechanical waves, but the apparatus is quite noisy. Additionally, it takes a while to set it up.

            Connect the motor to 100 VDC. Adjust the speed for a standing wave pattern on the string. Slip one of the wooden slits over the vibrating string between two nodes. The wave is now polarized in the direction of the slit. Slip the other slit over the vibrating string between two nodes. When this slit analyzer is orientated perpendicular to the first polarizing slit (polarizer), the wave is not transmitted through the analyzer.
