NARRATIVE
Certain compounds emit visible light when irradiated by UV radiation. Those that continue to glow after the radiation is removed are called phosphorescent. Those that stop glowing upon removal of radiation are called fluorescent. Plug the UV light source into 110 VAC. Allow about 5 minutes for warm up. There are various items (e.g., flowers, paint pigments, chalk) which become luminescent when placed in the ultraviolet light.
