NARRATIVE
A bowling ball is hung from a steel wire which is attached to the ceiling of Rm 260. This is used to calculate the dependence of period on length (1 = 3.5 m) or the acceleration due to gravity by measuring the period.

Another popular demonstration is to stand with one's head firmly against the wall and to bring the ball to the chin. Release the ball and it will swing out and return very close to the chin, thus adding a little excitement to the demonstration. Be sure to keep the head firmly against the wall or extensive reconstructive dental work will be required.
