NARRATIVE
The current leads the voltage by 90 degrees in a capacitive
circuit. Connect the capacitor and decade resistor is series with an audio frequency
generator. Using a dual beam oscilloscope, display the voltage drop across the resistor
(this represents the current and the voltage). The two traces on the oscilloscope will be
displaced by about 90 degrees. Stray capacitance and inductance are responsible for a
small phase shift.
