LENZ'S LAW - CHANGING MAGNETIC FLUX THROUGH A CURRENT CARRYING COIL
EQUIPMENT
Large Coil
Small Coil
Small Power Supply
Demonstration Galvanometer
Reversing Switch
Iron Bars
NARRATIVE
Connect the large coil to about 4 VDC from the small DC power
supply through a reversing switch. When the small coil is inserted and withdrawn, current
is induced. If the small coil is placed inside the larger one, and the current is switched
off and on, current will be induced. Iron bars placed inside the coils act as a flux link
and will cause the induced current to increase.
CAUTION: Avoid excessive meter deflection by adjusting the source voltage to allow for full scale deflection when all iron bars are used.
