NARRATIVE
Magnetic domain
alignment is dependent on temperature. At the Curie point, thermal agitation overcomes the
magnetic force which tends to line up the domains.
Arrange the magnet and pendulum (which consists of a piece of hacksaw blade suspended by a chain) so that the pendulum is displaced from its equilibrium position. Heat the blade with a Bunsen burner. When it is red hot, the blade will swing away from the magnet.
