The Longest Day . . .

Today is in fact the twentieth anniversary of the Festival of Music in France.  It was conceived by a man whose name is known by all here, Jack Lang.  As Minister of Culture, M. Lang hoped to bring to fruition the idea of a holiday that was neither religious, nor military, nor political in nature.  He wanted a holiday for art.  The art he chose was music.
