Work in-class with Ad Project, Four More Years Project. Bring your ads (2-3) to class this week. Discuss your ads for analysis.

Assignments Due Next Week:

Read the new attendance policy for WVU students, presented to the Faculty Senate by the Student Instruction Committee and also guest columnist and WVU BOG Member Eric Miller's editorial in the DA about coming up with better excuses. Also read Professor Michael Lastinger's rebuttal in a subsequent issue of the DA.
Read this new letter to the editor, written by Nina Forest, about the attendance issue from a non-traditional student's viewpoint. The alternate topic of couch burning and WVU's off-campus jurisdiction in sanctioning students is found in a recent DA editorial. The Ohio State University has also reacted to off-campus behavior in these stories: Vice-President for Student Affairs Bill Hall speaks out (plus a second news release by him) and a student newspaper (The Lantern) editorial.

Log on to eCampus. Go to the Discussion Area for our Course. Post an opinion (at least three sentences) regarding your stance on the attendance or couch burning topics or both.

In Class Assignments:

Course Review. Return of all graded assignments. Gradebook check with your returned essays that you bring to class.

In-Class Essay #2: Write an argumentative essay choosing a topic from one of those provided in this powerpoint presentation.

You may also choose a topic among several provided from this pdf file. Use refutation/rebuttal in your argument and specify the # of the topic you chose. Be certain to use at least two images in your essay.
