WVU IEP Gold Group B1 Student Critique Groups

Summer of 2011

The folowing is a schedule for rotating groups to be used for critiques of the song analysis assignment. There are four to five classmates in each critique group. Remember that your critique must be sent or given to your classmatesbefore the in-class critique meeting indicated below.

Attendance at these meetings is mandatory. You should plan for the critique sessions to last minimally one-half hour.

These groups will remain the same for the four weeks of our revision process. Your roles will rotate weekly according to what areas you will critique; when your paper is being critiqued you will not be doing a critique of anyone else's paper.

All critiques must be in the hands of the person whose paper is being discussed before the critique session in class (or virtual class). You will have one week to revise your essay after the scheduled critique meeting. Revisions should be emailed to Dr. Sloane as separate attachments and include: Your revision (labeled revision), the critiques of your paper (3 to 4, depending on which group you're in), & your original draft.

Please remember to ALWAYS keep copies of the critiques you mail to others as well as the revision packet you mail to Dr. Sloane.

• Position 1--Your paper will be critiqued that evening. You should lead the discussion and be sure each person is heard from in your group. You will take notes at your session, download the chat transcript, and collect the crituqes of your paper from EMAIL or during the group session and rewrite your paper accordingly, due at the beginning of the next class meeting .
• Position 2--You will EMAIL a a one and one-half page critique of the content of the paper being discussed this week to the person whose paper is being discussed. You should do this before the small-group session Tuesday evening. During the small-group discussion you will make comments to the person whose paper is being discussed.
• Position 3--You will EMAIL a one and one-half page critique of the organization of the paper being discussed this week to the person whose paper is being discussed. You should do this before the small-group session Tuesday evening. During the small-group discussion you will make comments to the person whose paper is being discussed.
• Position 4--You will EMAIL a a one and one-half page critique of the grammar of the paper being discussed this week to the person whose paper is being discussed. You should do this before the small-group session Tuesday evening. During the small-group discussion you will make comments to the person whose paper is being discussed.
