Healthy Influence is the application of persuasion theory and research to health contexts. I have been surprised to discover just how effective persuasion is in a variety of lifestyle choices that play a critical role in a person's health.
I have been actively pursuing a variety of outlets with this idea ranging from classroom assignments, special seminars, and grants. The later category is a major committment for me of late beginning with my work at the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center at WVU and continuing with my appointment to the newly funded Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Research Center. I am also involved in a joint project between WVU and the Center for Science in the Public Interest. If you are interested in this idea, contact me at drsbb "at sign" HealthyInfluence.com
At present Healthy Influence is my primary service role, but, of course, I maintain the standard service committments to my department, College, University, and community.
A rapidly emerging area of interest and application for me is the Web. I foresee enormous possibilities in networked communication, particularly in the instructional context. Anytime anyone wants to investigate computers and communication, I'm interested. For a demonstration of my interest go to my Teaching page, then visit any of my course homepages. Let me know what you think.
