Finding Tomchin Planetarium and Observatory

Directions to Tomchin Planetarium from I-79 or I-68

Coming from the south on I-79 N:
From I-79 N, merge onto I-68 toward Cumberland. Take Exit 1(US-119) toward University Avenue/Downtown. Turn left onto US-119 and follow it into Morgantown. US-119 becomes University Avenue. Turn slight left onto US-19/Beechurst Avenue. Tomchin Planetarium is on the 4th floor of Hodges Hall, a block down on the right at the intersection of Hough Street and Beechurst Avenue. (Hodges Hall is the building with the loop drive next to the PRT station.) Parking is available across the street in the lot next to Stansbury Hall (after 5 PM).

Coming from the east on I-68 W:
From I-68 W take Exit 1 (US-119) toward University Avenue/Downtown. Turn left onto US-119 and follow it into Morgantown. US-119 becomes University Avenue. Turn slight left onto US-19/Beechurst Avenue. Tomchin Planetarium is on the 4th floor of Hodges Hall, a block down on the right at the intersection of Hough Street and Beechurst Avenue. Coming from the north on I-79 S:
From I-79 S, take Exit 155 toward WV-7/West Virginia University. Turn left onto Chaplin Hill Road/Osage Road. Turn slight right onto US-19/WV-7. Keep to the right on US-19. You will pass the WVU Colliseum on the right at the top of the hill. US-19 becomes Monongahela Blvd then becomes Beechurst Avenue. Continue through the traffic light at the intersection of Beechurst and Campus Drive. Hodges Hall is on the left just past the PRT station. Parking is available across from Hodges Hall in the lot next to Stansbury Hall (after 5 PM).

To 425 Hodges Hall

Hodges Hall is located near the Beechurst PRT station on the downtown campus.  If you stand in front of the Beeechurst PRT station with your back to Beechurst Avenue, Hodges Hall is the building immediately to the right with the semicircular drive in front.  In the diagram below, the semicircular drive in front of Hodges Hall is referred to as "Loading/Unloading" (building 18).

Once you have found Hodges Hall, take the elevator to the fourth floor.  The elevator is located on the Hough Street side of the building. The double doors on the left when you exit the elevator mark the entrance to Tomchin Planetarium.  For information on handicap access, please call (304)293-3422, extension 1443.
