Japanese Club

What is the Japanese Club?
Japanese club is the organization consisting mainly of those who are taking Japanese courses at WVU. If you are a native Japanese, you are automatically qualified to be a member of JC. If you are not a Japanese, but taking Japanese class at WVU, you also are a member. Even if you are not taking a class at WVU, we always welcome anyone who are strongly interested in Japanese language and Japan. If that is the case, please contact us.

The Japanese Club President.
Usually, the president is selected from the students taking Japanese 3 or 4. Cooperating with the vice president(s) and the treasurer, the Japanese Club President take in charge of activities such as Origami Party and Calligraphy table, etc. It is a volunteer work, but a lot of fun.

Activities.
Not so many activities take places with Japanese club. However, the biannual events,Origami (Work) party and Calligraphy table are important.

Origami Party.
It is also called a Work Party. It has a long history. It used to be called "Pearl Habor Party" or the like. It was a more conservative and more meaningful event, according to Minami-sensei. Yet, recent parties are such that, everyone just gets together at Minami-sensei's house and eat Japanese foot, drunk, although I have no complaints for that.
In compensation for eating foods, everyone is obliged to work for her, making origami's, painting, and so forth. The Origami products, etc, you make will be on sale at "Calligraphy Table" which will be held in the `Lair, usually the following week.
