| BACKGROUND: |
I am a Ph.D. candidate at the C. Eugene Bennett Department of Chemistry at West Virginia University. I received a BA in Biochemistry from West Virginia University in May 2005. During my senior year, I began working on a Distance Research project for Dr. Lisa Holland. A series of learning modules were developed and tested resulting in Internet-based resources designed to teach undergraduate researchers the principles and applications of Capillary Electrophoresis (CE) and Micellar Electrokinetic Capillary Chromatography (MEKC). My first graduate project was to characterize phospholipid capillary coatings to suppress electroosmotic flow and reduce non-specific interactions with the capillary surface. I then spent 7 months as an intern with the Analytical R&D Group at Pfizer where I developed automated API extraction and analysis methods for several solid dosage formulations. Currently I am working on the characterization of particles by capillary electrophoresis in order to predict their behavior by dielectrophoresis.
