Although the number of organisms in the Burgess Shale that are believed to be unclassifiable using existing groups has been reduced, some do remain. We will outline the contradictory characteristics of four organisms: Anomalocaris, Nectocaris, Opabinia, and Wixwaxia. Because of their perplexing nature, we have chosen to playfully refer to this groupless group as the “Burgess Shale Oddities”.
