The boat. A 1995 Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight with one side view mirror, dented passenger side door panels, and a cracked fender (not all my fault!). It's huge, almost impossible to navigate, and is just pathetic to look at. Sometimes I fantasize about putting a mast with a Jolly Roger on the roof and pillaging swag throughout Morgantown. Arrrrgh. Hoist the anchor. Swab the deck.
I think I give the boat a bad beat, though. In spite of its shortcomings, it has been a great car! I think of it like that weird uncle everyone has: sure, it's embarrassing sometimes, but you still love it nonetheless. I mean it gets me where I need to go, right? I guess thats the best I can hope for until I moor the battleship for the last time and get a new car this summer. It's going to be hard to let her go...lot of memories in that car. Dad used to take my brothers and I to hockey in it every weekend. After I got really into music, he drove it 4 hours to the Martin guitar factory all the way in friggin' Nazareth, Pennsylvania just so I could get a tour. I guess its only real shortcoming (aside from its sad visage) is that it has to be locked in order to protect what's inside...all in all, it has been a great car.
If you were to open the hatch and hop into the boat's captain chair (aka the driver's seat), a few things arouse your attention. Mounted to an air conditioning vent on the dashboard is my iPod (which takes the place of a noticably absent CD case). To your right, on the passenger's seat, is a Volkswagen sales brochure: on the cover is a picture of the 2007 GTI. On the floor underneath that is what appears to be...a baseball card? Don't pay any attention to that, though. Over your right shoulder, in the back seat, is a black tolex guitar case; this holds my acoustic guitar. Underneath that is my graduation regalia, still unwrapped at this point. If you were to pop the trunk latch, exit the vehicle, and walk to the aft end of the boat (the back), inside the enormous trunk cavity there would be an equally enormous hockey bag...and probably somewhere between two and four hockey sticks to boot.
All of these objects are very near and dear to my heart; each of them has at least one good story that tells a little something about me and who I am. So why don't you take a look around? Use the navigation links at the bottom of the page to learn more about what's in the boat.
