Reading by Olaf Georg Klein

On Thursday, October 23, Olaf Georg Klein, a politically engaged writer from the former German Democratic Republic, will read from a selection of his works.  They include a collection of literary monologues entitled Plötzlich war alles ganz anders: Deutsche Lebenswege im Umbruch (Suddenly Everything Was Entirely Different: German Life Stories in a Time of Upheaval) and his novel- manuscript Im Schatten der Zeit (In the Shadow of the Times).  He will also speak about his experiences with "das neue Forum," about Berlin today, and about "the Babylonian language confusion in eastern and western 'Germanina'."   The reading will be in German, but Mr. Klein can field questions in English or German.

This event, sponsored by the WVU Department of Foreign Languages, is free and open to the public. For information, please contact Dr. Deborah Janson at 304/293-5121 or send her an e-mail.
