1.) You must have an overall GPA of 2.50 or better.
2.) You must complete COMM
200 (Communication Theory and Research I) and COMM
201 (Communication Theory and Research II) with a combined GPA of 2.5
or better. This means that you will need to complete the classes with a
combination of at least and "C" in one , and a "B" in the other.
3.) You must have a GPA in all COMM classes of at least 2.5.
Occasionally, otherwise good students have a rough first few semesters which may make it difficult to meet the above criteria. In such cases, an alternative set of criteria can be used. Specifically:
1.) Students must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better across
the semesters in which they have completed their most recent fourty-five
(45) hours. (That means that if a student has completed 12 hours for each
of their four most recent semesters, all 48 hours would be included in
this computation; similarly if a student completed 18 hours in each of
their three most recent semesters, all 54 would be included.)
2.) Students must have a combined GPA for COMM
200 and 201
of 3.0 or better.
3.) Students must have a combined GPA of 2.5 or better for all
previous COMM classes, including COMM
200 and 201.
If classes have been repeated, only the most recent grades will be counted
in this computation.
If you do not meet either of these sets of criteria, you have two courses of action to consider. The first is to examine an alternative course of study for which you do qualify. The second option is to take additional classes to improve your GPA. Please bear two things in mind if you choose to do this. First, the more hours you complete, the less impact any one course has on your GPA. Second, you should not take any COMM courses other than repeating COMM courses you have already taken in order to improve your grades in those courses.
