Lecture 26:  Respiratory System - Control

Sherwood: Chapter 11

Objective:  To understand how the respiratory center in the brain stem establishs a rhythmic breathing pattern.  What controls the magnitude of ventilation is the carbon dioxide-generated hydrogen ion concentration in the brain extracellular fluid.
