Objective:  To understand the structure of actin and myosin and the nature of crosslinking in the contraction of a muscle fiber.

1.  Sarcomere is the functional unit of skeletal muscle
2.  Myofibrils
        a.  thick filament and the myosin protein
        b.  thin filament and actin, tropomyosin and troponin
3.  Role of calcium
        a.  released from the sarcoplasmic reticulum
