for New and Existing Initiatives
There is a growing need for private funds that can address issues which require a quick response in order to seize an opportunity for the benefit of the Eberly College, its faculty, and its students.
Dean's Opportunity Funds may support:
- Unique research challenges
- Special teaching initiatives
- Emergency undergraduate scholarship aid
- Service and outreach work
Often the Dean's Opportunity Fund is considered an investment fund. That is, the fund provides resources to initiate an idea and implement a plan with the expectation that later funds will be acquired from any of a variety of sources to continue the implementation.
Under the direct control of the college's dean, the fund enables the Eberly College to move beyond budgeted resources, always limited and restricted, to respond with flexible dollars to unique and exciting opportunities that always arise on an engaged college campus, especially one as exciting as WVU.
