Thursday, November 13
Brown Bag Lunch & Discussion Series
Presented by Jo Brown, Bibliographer, WVU Libraries
A screening of the film "The Appalachians: A Land Shaped by the People. A People Shaped by the Land," Part 1. The film documents 18th century frontier settlement of Appalachia, the defeat of the British by the Overmountain Men, and the brutal displacement of the Cherokee and other Native American Tribes and features Johnny Cash in his last film interview. Other musicians featured include Rosanne Cash, Loretta Lynn, Little Jimmy Dickens, Marty Stuart, and Ricky Skaggs.

A photograph exhibit and West Virginia History OnView database demonstration featuring more than 500 historical Helvetia, WV digital images including the images of Helvetia photographers Walter Aegerter and Uriah C. Shock.

Helvetia Folk Dancers & Yodelers

An evening of spooky fun is happening at West Virginia University! Join over a half-dozen members of the West Virginia Storytelling Guild as they perform haunting tales from around the state. Scheduled to appear are Jason Burns, Gail Herman, Fred Powers, Susanna "Granny Sue" Holstein, Rich Knoblich, The Mountain Echoes (JoAnn Dadisman and June Riffle), and Donna Wilson.
