John Kane

is a lecturer in sociology at West Virginia University, currently teaching a Special Topics course on Internet Crime. He is also the Manager of Research for the National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C), a federally-funded organization whose mission is to provide a nationwide support system for agencies involved in the prevention, investigation, and prosecution of economic and high-tech crimes and to support and partner with other appropriate entities in addressing homeland security initiatives, as they relate to economic and high-tech crimes. Mr. Kane did both his undergraduate and graduate work at the University of Florida (sociology/criminology), and his current research interests include e-policing initiatives, cyber victimology, and employee crime and deviance.
