The Whitehill Award

History, information about the current award, and past winners can be found by using the link on the left side of this page.  The Tau Chapter would like to congratulate the Spring 2007 winners listed below!

The individuals who received the top five scores in 2007 were Nathan Pearson (1st place), Dwight Lastinger (second place), Jason Kang (third place), Robert Baylor (fourth place) and Megan McClusky (5th place).

 

Friend E. Clark Lecture Series

The 2007 Clark Lecturer will be Dr. John Hartwig from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  His talks were given on March 12 and 13, 2007.  More information can be found by clicking the Clark Lecture link on the left of this page.

 

Departmental Picnic / New Graduate Student Welcome

The departmental picnic for the Fall 2007 semester was held on a perfect fall day.  All the students, faculty, and staff in attendance received their share of food and drinks while enjoying the company and meeting the new graduate students.  The picnic was held at the Krepps Park, and everyone seemed to have an excellent time (especially s'more making!).  Look for updates on the Fall 2008 picnic late in the Spring semester!

 

PLU Christmas Party 2005

For the first time in a very long time, the Tau Chapter held a Christmas party for all of its current members.  The Christmas party was held on December 16,2005 at the local VFW and was attended by about 40 PLU members and their guests.  The Tau chapter provided ham, turkey, and some beverages while all those attending provided their favorite side dish or dessert.  A karaoke machine was also provided by PLU and was used almost constantly throughout the evening.  Games of luck and games of skill were seen being played by members during the party.  Surely a great time was had by all!  Pictures can be seen by click the Christmas link on the left side of this screen.

 

PLU Christmas Party 2006

For the second year in a row, the Tau Chapter held a Christmas party for all of its current members.  This years Christmas party was held at a downtown establishment and was attended by over 50 PLU members and guests.  The Tau chapter provided most of the food as well as beverages for all.  The tradition of the Christmas Party seems to be off to a great start as those in attendance again had a fabulous time!

 

PLU Halloween Party 2007

For the first time (maybe ever) the Tau Chapter held a Halloween Party.  The party was held at da Lazy Lizard and almost everyone was in the spirit and wore a costume.  Pictures should be available soon!

 

PLU Holiday Party 2007

The annual PLU Holiday party has been arranged and will be held on Friday, December 7, 2007 from 6-10pm.  The party will be held at Chic-n-Bones Rhythm Cafe and all PLU members and their guests are invited!  Don't forget to wear something festive!

 

Community Outreach (Fall 2007)

The Tau Chapter of PLU will be collecting non-perishable food items and clothing to benefit the Bartlett House Homeless Shelter in Morgantown.  Please donate all that you can to Kathleen Kelly (CRL 555) or Lucy Oldfield (Olegbay 316) before November 30, 2007.

Also, the Tau Chapter will be helping the Salvation Army with a Christmas Stocking Drive.  Please pick up a stocking and fill with toys, candy, winter items, etc. then return it.  Stockings can be picked up and returned to Kathleen (CRL 555) or Lucy (Olegbay 316) before December 13, 2007.  Feel free to bring the filled stocking to the Holiday Party!

 

Relay for Life

The Tau Chapter helped sponsor a team of Phi Lambda Upsilon members that took part in the local Relay for Life.  The Tau Chapter gave $5 for each member who was willing to walk a leg of the overnight event towards the $10 donation asked of all participants.  The team was put together at the last minute, but 15 members volunteered their time and money for this worthy cause and the team was able to collect donations from others that were unable to walk on such short notice.  The Tau Chapter was able to donate $220 to the cause and we can all be proud to have donated this amount on such short notice.
