Social Work lecture to address issues related to rural veterans
Morgantown, WV, March 15, 2006: As part of Social Work Month, the WVU Division of Social Work will host a lecture focusing on the issues faced by rural veterans and their families.
“Our Invisible Heroes: Rural Veterans, Implications for Social Work” will be Monday, March 19, at 7 p.m. in the Erickson Alumni Center’s Durret Hall on WVU’s Evansdale Campus. Hors d’oeuvres will be served at 6:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Hilda Heady, the Associate Vice President for Rural Health at WVU’s Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center, will present the lecture. Heady holds a master’s degree from WVU in social work. She has worked as a hospital administrator and has been involved in rural health issues and community development for 36 years. She has served in a leadership role in rural health care reform, policy development, technical assistance, and coordination of statewide resources for rural health.
The event has been approved for one hour of continuing education credit for West Virginia licensed social workers. Attendance and evaluation forms will be available at the lecture, and pre-registration is not required.
The event is co-sponsored by the WVU Division of Social Work in the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences School of Applied Social Sciences, and by the Graduate Social Work Organization.
