Lecture to address problem of human trafficking
Morgantown, WV, March 1, 2006: Professors and experts from several campus groups will collaborate next week to present a lecture on the issues surrounding human trafficking and the international sex trade.
“What Money Can Buy: Globalization and the Problem of Human Trafficking” will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, in the Mountainlair’s Gluck Theatre on WVU’s Downtown Campus. The event is free and open to the public.
Lecturers include James Keim, director of the Southeast Asia Children’s Project, Dr. Neal Newfield, associate professor of social work, Dr. Susan Newfield, associate professor of nursing, and Ngo Tu Phuong Chi of the Research Center for Social Science and Humanities.
The Southeast Asia Children’s Project is dedicated to the prevention of child trafficking and the treatment of its victims. SACP is active in Cambodia, Thailand, and Vietnam.
The event is co-sponsored by the WVU Center for Women’s Studies, the WVU Division of Social Work, the Diversity in Media Association (DIMA), and the P.I. Reed School of Journalism.
