Department of Communication Studies hosts Lecture on Expectations in Higher Education

Morgantown, WV, March 12, 2006:Dr. Timothy Mottet, West Virginia University graduate and highly published author in the field of Communication Studies, will speak on the topic: “Teaching and Learning in Higher Education: The Role of Communication in Managing Expectations in a ‘College Lite’ Environment.” The presentation is hosted by the Department of Communication Studies in the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences at WVU.

The lecture will take place on April 2 at 4pm in the Business and Economics Building, Room 458.

Dr. Timothy Mottet earned an Ed.D. in Communication Studies and Educational Theory and Practice from WVU in 1998. He received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Research in 2004, and the Presidential Award for Excellence in Service in 2005 from Texas State University. Dr. Mottet was ranked in Communication Research Reports as one of the 50 most prolific researchers in Communication Studies from 1996 to 2001.

As an associate professor in Communication Studies at Texas State University, San Marcos, Dr. Mottet teaches courses in instructional communication, communication assessment, communication training and development, and communication research methods and theory. His research interests are in the role of communication, cognition, and personality in teaching and learning.

Dr. Mottet is a co-editor of the Handbook of Instructional Communication: Rhetorical and Relational Perspectives and co-author of Training and Development: Enhancing Communication and Leadership Skills.
