Division of Social Work to offer Social Work Licensing Exam Prep Course
Morgantown, WV, March 19, 2006: Undergraduate and graduate social work students will have the chance to take a course from a nationally known social work scholar in order to better prepare themselves for the upcoming social work licensure exams.
The Social Work Licensure Exam Preparation Course (for LICSW, LCSW, LGSW, and LSW Exam Candidates) will be Saturday and Sunday, March 31 and April 1, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the National Resource Center for Coal and Energy (NRCCE) Building, Room 101AB, on WVU’s Evansdale Campus.
Bachelor’s level social workers should attend only the Saturday session, while master’s level social workers should attend both days. The registration fee for the one-day session (LSW Candidates) is $95 for National Association of Social Workers (NASW) members and $135 for non-members. The two-day session (LICSW/LCSW/LGSW Candidates) costs $165 for NASW members and $220 for non-members. The registration deadline is Friday, March 23.
The one-day session is approved for 8 hours of continuing education credits (5 hours approved social work ethics hours). The two-day course is approved for 15 hours of continuing education credits (5 hours approved psychopathology and 7 hours approved social work ethics).
Dr. Sophia Dziegielewski, Dean of the University of Cincinnati School of Social Work, will lead the course, which will target the latest requirements by the Association of Social Work Boards. Dr. Dziegielewski has designed and implemented this highly acclaimed course and has successfully instructed more than 10,000 social workers across the United States.
The course will offer an overview of the social work licensing test construction; standard test-taking strategies; assessment, diagnosis, and social work intervention strategies; models and methods of social work practice; human growth and development issues; social work values and ethics; minority issues. One-day session participants receive 8 hours of live classroom instruction, while two-day recipients receive 16 hours of live classroom instruction. All participants receive a comprehensive workbook with sample tests.
