‘West Virginia History’ journal included in Johns Hopkins’ digital ‘Project Muse’

Morgantown, WV, June 27, 2007: West Virginia University Press’ most recent journal acquisition, “West Virginia History: A Journal of Regional Studies,” will be made available to scholars in an online, digital edition from the Johns Hopkins University Press collection of digital journals called “Project Muse.”

“Project Muse” is an internationally distributed database of journals important in the arts, social sciences and sciences. With the addition of “West Virginia History” to “Project Muse,” all WVU Press journals are now placed to give their contributors maximum access to readers around the world.

Elizabeth Brown, manager of user services for “Project Muse,” was enthusiastic in recommending that “West Virginia History” be included in the prestigious, online service.

“I enjoyed reviewing the new issue and am very impressed with the work that has gone into re-launching this journal at the West Virginia University Press,” she wrote in the acceptance letter.

“The new editor, Ronald L. Lewis, has impressive credentials and seems very committed to moving this title forward. While West Virginia University is expected to be well represented in the journal, the editorial board includes members from throughout West Virginia and Appalachia and beyond. I found the balance of subject matter in the articles really interesting, such as the article on music in the lives of African American West Virginians in the ‘30s and ‘40s,” she added.
