Oktoberfest to celebrate German language and culture
Morgantown, WV, September 29, 2006: Love German food, language, and culture but do not often get a chance to celebrate it? Come to “Oktoberfest Meets Morgantown.”
The West Virginia Friends of German invite all students and friends of the German language and culture to an afternoon filled with music, fun, and activities for all ages. The second annual Oktoberfest will be Sunday, October 8 at Krepps Park on Patteson Drive.
There will be activities and games for children and adults, including soccer matches for high school and college students and faculty, a puppet show, German music, and German food, as well as “lottery prizes,” the proceeds of which will go toward supporting monthly German lessons for children and toward students’ participation in WVU study abroad programs to German-speaking countries.
The soccer matches will begin at 11 a.m. The festival itself will be held from 1 to 5 p.m., with food served from 1 to 4 p.m. The buffet is $1 for students, $2 for adults, and free for children under the age of 6. Food served will include Austrian strudel, German potato salad, Swiss cheese, and bratwurst, among others.
The event is sponsored by WVU German faculty and German club members and Morgantown area German teachers and students.
