Division of Social Work announces
Nonprofit Management Academy Breakfast Series
Morgantown, WV, August 16, 2006: The West Virginia University Division of Social Work will open this year's schedule of professional and community education programs with the popular Nonprofit Management Academy Breakfast Series. Continuing education credits will be available for social workers and other social service professionals practicing in West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.
The Nonprofit Management Academy, a program of 8 sessions, begins August 31. All sessions of the Nonprofit Management Academy Breakfast Series will be held in the Blackwater Room of the Mountainlair on WVU's Downtown Campus. Each session is approved for 2 hours of continuing education credits for licensed social workers in the region. Cost is $25 per workshop or $150 for all eight. A $135 "early bird" discount is available to all persons who register by August 25. A light breakfast will be included in the registration fee.
Speakers and topic for the series will include:
August 31: John Hazlett, MBA, JD, President, First Commitment Corporation, to discuss Boardmanship, the heart and science of being an effective leader on the governing body of an organization.
September 14: Joe Frontiera and Dan Liedl of the International Center for Performance Excellence. Their topic is Dynamic Leadership, including a number of tactics that help non-profit organizations overcome their usual limited resources.
September 28: John Hazlett on Nonprofit Financials, finance for non-financial managers and volunteers.
October 12: Jacki Englehardt, MSW, ACSW, Coordinator of Professional and Community Education in WVU's Division of Social Work, on Practical Public Relations and Promotion.
October 26: Mindy Walls, JD, Director of WVU's Entrepreneurship Center, on Crafting and Delivering a Memorable Message
November 9: Melissa Watkins, CPA, Steptoe and Johnson, on Governance of Nonprofit Organizations
November 30: Virginia Majewski, Ph.D., Chair, WVU Division of Social Work, on Grassroots Fundraising
December 7: Mohamad Alkadry, Ph.D., WVU associate professor of Public Administration, on Practical Organizational Theory
