Completing Your Graduate Degree

The student is responsible for the following items:

  • Application for Graduation and Diploma submitted to Graduate Records Office for the semester in which you intend to graduate. *Should you not graduate during that semester, a new form must be submitted. Due date: first 6 weeks of semester

  • $30.00 Graduation Fee. Pay at Admissions and Records 1-800-344-WVU1. If paid during a previous semester, fee will carry over until you graduate.

  • Request Form for Shuttle Sheet. This is a request only. (See below for information on the Shuttle Sheet.) Must be signed by committee members and department chairperson. Submit to Graduate Records Office at least two weeks prior to oral defense of thesis/dissertation.

  • Thesis and Dissertation. Student is responsible for downloading and submitting the following forms: 1) Electronic Submission Approval Form, 2) UMI form, 3) Survey of Earned Doctorates (if applicable), and 4) appropriate fees. Forms may be downloaded from the WVU Library Website ( http://www.wvu.edu/~thesis ).   • Register for at least one (1) credit hour for the semester you graduate. On campus students must register during the regular registration period. Students not on campus have the first 10 weeks of the semester to register (Department may attach letter requesting waiver of special fees and late registration fee). August graduation: register in either Summer I or Summer II.

  • Removal of incomplete grades for all classes. Grade modification forms must be complete by instructor by end of semester.

  • Transfer credit from another institution. Transfer Credit Form and original transcript submitted by the department and approved by Admissions and Records.

  • Plan of Study and approved Committee List. Must be submitted to the Graduate Records Office prior to Shuttle Sheet Request.

  • Completion of all courses and requirements listed on the Plan of Study.

  • Status: Must be regular status.

  • Thesis/Dissertation: Electronic submission, forms and fees must be accepted by the Wise Library by end of finals week. (See above.)

  • Completion of current semester.

  • Proof of language proficiency if required by your department
Deadline for submissions of items other than application for Graduation is finals week of the semester in which you intend to graduate.
