Here's where Saint Martin lies today. You should google him if you don't know his story. Here's a quick version. He was proud soldier in the Roman Legion. One cold day about 1700 years ago, he road past a begger freezing in the winter cold. He took pity, took his sword and cut his "chape" (cape) in two. Half he gave to the beggar. The next night he met another pauper. This one was none other than Jesus Christ. And Jesus was protected from the cold by the cape that Saint Martin had given to the beggar... Martin's legend is one thing. His adminstration is another. He was a genius at establishing Christianity as the law of this land when it really knew no other. He is the patron saint of order and peace, as well.
