This is la Plage des Dames. Anne-Marie tells us that it took its name from the 19th-century ladies who came here by train and then by boat when the locomotives of the late 1800's first made modern tourism possible. The ladies of Paris took this beach for their own and it became one of the chicest spots on the island.
