But is is the Fête de la Musique. This is one of France's favorite days. It started in 1982 when the Ministe of Culture, Jack Lang, asked musicians of all sorts to go out on the street and play for free just one half hour -- 8:30 to 9:00. Pretty soon the whole country was in the act, and now it's a day every one in France looks forward to.
