May not look like much, but this is an early example of the 'croisée d'ogive' -- or the cross-ribbed vault. Older vaults were simple arches send the weight directly out to the walled that supported them. By crossing the ribs, this vault sends its weight indirectly, making the effect seem much lighter. Gothic art would use this to build stone high into the air.
