Just a look behind, for the Fort Saint Nicolas, a place full of history. More later, perhaps, but this was a medieval monastery that overlooked the sea. It was quickly valued for its strategic position. It has been a forteress for much of its time, catholic or protestant, English or French, and sometimes German, as it was in WWII.
