Versailles is a monument to France and its history. Here is a painting of king Clovis' victory over the Alamans at the Battle of Tolbiac in the year 496. His wife Clothilde had convinced him to pray to Christ before the battle. He would soon be baptized and France would become a Christian kingdom under a series of monarchies that lasted nearly well over a thousand years.
