Do know, though, that Pétain was arrested, judged, and sentence to the Guillotine after WWII. Since he was nearly 90 years old and a hero of WWI, his death sentence was commuted to exile. The Isle of Yeu is where he spent his last years. His tomb is different from all the others, however. The islanders all die facing the sea. Pétain's tomb faces the Continent. So much for his place on this enchanted island.
