The 18th of June

June 18 is today.  It's most famous in France for a radio address given from London by Charles de Gaulle in 1940.  The main message was "France has lost a battle, but She has not lost the war."  This was a good date for such a speech since its also the date of another battle in 1815 -- Waterloo.  France lost battles in both 1940 and and 1815, but today we celebrate the prosperity that still reigns in this marvelous country.  With that thought in mind, our Saturday morning is spent at the Arago market here in Les Sables.
