Carrying Coal to Newcastle...

Our trip takes us across the country that was dearest to King Richard the Lion-Hearted.  Yes, he was king of England, but he spent most of his life here in Western France.  We often visit his castle at Talmont, just a few kilometers outside Les Sables, but this region is so rich in culture and history that we can never do everything we'd like.  We're headed now for the home town of Richard's mother, Eleanor of Aquitaine.  We'll also drive right through the heart of Richelieu country, as well, but we will stop in Luçon on another field trip coming up soon.
